Face Lifts - The New Frontier of Anti-Aging - Clinical trials show
48% increase in elastin: University of Washington
SOUTHBAY, May 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Southern California women and men are turning towards
E~Stim Facial Lifts to turn back the hands of time without invasive surgical
procedures. Located in Manhattan Beach, Southbay Acuscope Wellness Center is known for its
acupuncture facial rejuvenation program and natural anti-aging
techniques. Southbay Acuscope introduced the microcurrent procedure for the
acupuncture-phobic population who want to look younger but don't want to have
Botox(R) or surgery.
The microcurrent procedure uses two devices that send a gentle
micro-electrical pulse through two probes. The technique
stimulates the facial area to tighten and tone, giving the contour of the face
a visible lift.
Clinical trials at the University of Washington in 2003 found that it
increased elastin fibres by 48%, collagen by 14% and blood circulation by 38%.
Scientists have also found that microcurrent facelift treatments trigger the
body's production of amino acids and ATP by 400%. Both of these accelerate cell repair
and promote healthier cell production.
How does it do this? "This procedure mimics our own biological electrical
current. As we age, this current, which sends messages from the brain to the
muscles and skin via the spinal cord and nerves, slows down and doesn't work
as well." Says Dr. Blaise Ryan
Does it hurt? "Not at all" Says Dr Ryan. "Sometimes a very slight
tingling is felt. It's very relaxing, most clients fall asleep. The treatment
also includes a mini spa facial and facial massages, so wedding parties are
usually a hit."
Each treatment takes about one hour. The first phase of the procedure
takes about 1 month at two visits a week and costs $100-$125 per session. This
treatment not only works for wrinkles, sagging skin and under-eye bags, but it
also works to help post-operative patients recover faster and with less scarring.
